It is important to brush regularly everyday twice and use proper toothpaste as suggested by your doctor and apart from that rinsing your mouth with water and mouthwash liquid after every meal and drinking coffee/tea/alcohal etc and before sleep is extremely important too.

It is also good to change your brush every 2-3 months and keep consulting a doctor for routine check up to see in advance, if there is any damage or symptoms showing up.

Please take help of help of websites like dental1.org to find many other useful tips and information, not all professional articles are just waste of time.

Thanks
Shiben

I was told by my dentist not to use whitenening toothpaste. I had gum problems (sensitivity, bleeding) and he said that the whitening toothpaste was a likely cause.

Many teeth whitening tips also include the use of whitening toothpastes. Whitening toothpastes are available everywhere and are also safe to use. Gentle brushing should be done when using whitening toothpastes because it contains abrasive elements that can harm the teeth’s enamel causing teeth sensitivity. Most patients report minimal side effects from sedation dentistry.

Thanks for the whitening tips! I am an avid coffee drinker, and while my teeth aren't extremely stained, I have noticed a slight darkening since I started drinking coffee. I have been looking for cheap alternatives to expensive teeth whitening procedures or White Strips, so these suggestions are great! I'll be sure to try them out...

Hi,
There are a few natural ways to whiten your teeth or prevent them from discoloring and a form of natural bleaching in some cases. In this article I'll list a few tips for natural treatments you can do at home.

1. First of all the obvious one of making regular appointments for cleaning your teeth is first on the list. Many people let this slide but it's important to not only get on a regular schedule with the dentist's office setting up future appointments but also having them call and remind you to come in. Once you get on a schedule of once or twice a year then you will find you don't need to worry about whiter teeth as often, except if you smoke.

2. Make sure to brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day. Make sure to floss at bedtime and use a cheap gum massager to get under the gum flap. You want to prevent the buildup of plaque, which can discolor your teeth. Focusing on your teeth will help you prevent some staining of your teeth.

You want to avoid getting plaque as much as possible. Carry floss with you. And floss discreetly when eating out. At home you can floss while you watch TV if you seem to not get around to it after meals. But make sure to floss at bedtime because you have six to nine hours or more while you're sleeping when the bacteria can go to work on the enamel. Make sure to rinse your mouth after eating.

3. Avoid drinking water with any added fluoride or using toothpaste with fluoride as it's been reported that it can discolor or stain your teeth. Also many other countries have banned fluoride in their drinking water due to diseases and symptoms that have been connected with it.

4. If you smoke try to cut down as much as possible and of course it s better for your health to quit smoking altogether as you no doubt know. Smokers have a more difficult time keeping their teeth white than non-smokers so you may have to work harder at it.

5. Coffee and tea are notorious for causing teeth staining. Make sure to sip or rinse your mouth with water while you're drinking coffee or tea and after you're done. Colas and wine can also cause stains on the teeth.

6. Some fruits such as strawberries are excellent tooth whiteners. Strawberries can be rubbed on the teeth or mashed up in a paste and brushed on. Leave on the teeth for five minutes. Rinse well.

You can use the inside of an orange peel which is also good for whitening. You can rub the peel right on your teeth, or take organic dried orange peel and ground bay leaves and make a paste and brush it on. Some people swear by a lemon juice and salt mixture too. In any case make sure to rinse your mouth well after using these natural tooth whitening treatments.

7. Baking soda has long been used for dental whitening. Many types of toothpaste have baking soda in their ingredients because of its effectiveness. You can make your own baking soda whitener though. Just mix baking soda with a little salt - a good cheap teeth whitening home remedy.

8. Avoid using mouthwashes. Besides alcohol they contain other chemicals that can stain or discolor teeth. They can easily absorb through the delicate tissues under your tongue and be absorbed into your system. One well-known mouthwash was reported recently to actually discolor the teeth with brown stains.

9. Drinks lots of water. Rinse your mouth thoroughly after every meal or snack to make sure no food residue is sticking to your teeth.

10. Try to eat a better diet with lots of raw foods - fruits and veggies. Make huge salads. Avoid fast food and processed food as much as possible. Avoid constant snacking. All of this will help give you brighter, whiter teeth with fewer cavities.

I have been thinking about how to whiten my teeth for several weeks now. Unfortunately, I do have fairly yellow teeth. While I prefer a cost-effective DIY solution I am not sure whether the effects will last? And will these fast solutions do any harm?

I actually used the normal buy-them-at-a-supermarket whitening strips, and they worked fabulously. I was supposed to use them twice a day for a month, but I ended up only using them for two weeks becaue my teeth reached a level of white I was happy with. And they haven't become noticeably less white in the almost a year since then.

I found a receipt of homemade teeth whitening paste, hope it helps:

3 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide

2 teaspoons of baking soda

A small amount of toothpaste or drop of mint flavor may also be added

Brush with this paste, and leave on for a few minutes. Then, brush again with regular tooth paste. Use this paste no more than once a week. Individuals with dental conditions should consult with their dentist first.

I will try this at home myself and hopefully it will bring me a bright smile

For a natural teeth whitening option that can be used daily, start brushing with baking soda.Dampen a toothbrush in water and sprinkle baking soda onto the toothbrush. Brush teeth asnormal to whiten teeth naturally. The added benefit of the mild abrasive action is that it prevents the buildup of new stains on the teeth.

One more tip. Many people live by the true power of oranges when it comes to at home teeth whitening solutions. It is said that if an individual takes the peel of an orange and rubs the backside along the teeth that the teeth will naturally sparkle. This has proven to be an effective and safe remedy for numerous individuals.

Like many people. having perfect, pearly white teeth is something I would love to have. Yet, getting your teeth professionally whitened costs more than I would like to spend, and whitening strips you can get at the store never seem to work quite right for me. So, I started doing some research into other ways You can whiten your teeth, and wanted to share what I have found (aside from the general tips of brushing and flossing your teeth and avoiding coffee and cigarettes!)

Here is what I found:

LEMON JUICE- Rinsing your teeth with a solution that is 3/4 lemon juice and 1/4 salt has a whitening effect on your teeth. However, if you have sensitive teeth or gums, this may not be the best recipe to use. Some reviews on it say that it hurts your mouth.

BAKING SODA- A mixture of baking soda and water can be used to brush your teeth once to twice a month for whitening.

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE- Rinsing your mouth with peroxide may help both to kill bacteria that causes bad breath and to whiten teeth. If you don't want to try this out because of the bad taste of hydrogen peroxide, a mixture of 1/2 peroxide and 1/2 flavored mouthwash may be a better tasting alternative.

SUGAR-FREE GUM- Chewing sugar-free gum has been shown to help improve the cleanliness of your teeth (as long as you still brush regularly!) because it helps remove plaque.

DARK CHOCOLATE- Yes, that's right. I found out that certain foods like celery, apples, cranberry juice, and dark chocolate all help to fight against bacteria in your mouth. A reduction of bacteria means less plaque build up and whiter teeth!

Has anyone else come across other teeth whitening recipes like this? I'd love to try some others to see what works the best!
