    Baby teeth are children’s primary teeth.

    Detailed Description

    Even though baby teeth fall out and are replaced by adult teeth it is important that parents pay close attention to their baby’s teeth and begin good oral health habits at an early age.

    Why is it important to care for baby teeth:



    • Baby teeth are important for helping children learn to speak properly.

    • The primary teeth act as spacers to ensure proper alignment and spacing of permanent teeth.

    • Having well-maintained teeth is important for a child’s social development. Having clean, well-cared for teeth allow children to socialize with others and not be afraid of smiling due to decayed teeth.

    • Teaching children good oral health habits at an early age encourages them to continue to care for their teeth as they grow.

    • Decay from baby teeth will often spread to adjacent permanent teeth.


      A child should begin visiting the dentist after they celebrate their first birthday.
