Dr. David Rolf is a periodontist and the Director of Education for Dental1. As an educator and clinician, Dr. Rolf has earned and holds the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Indiana University; Doctor of Dental Medicine from Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis; Postdoctoral Residency and Certificate in Periodontics from The University of Iowa College of Dentistry and the UI Hospitals and Clinics; Master of Science in Oral Biology from the University of Iowa Graduate College; Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Ethics from Rush University, Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Rolf has served as Assistant Professor of Advanced Periodontics and Dental Implant Surgery at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry while also maintaining a private practice limited to periodontology and implant dentistry in Temecula, Calif. As an Assistant Professor of Periodontics at Indiana University School of Dentistry, Dr. Rolf was also a mentor for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Institute of Dental Research (NIDR) Research Fellowship Program. At the University of Iowa Dows Institute of Dental Research and UI Hospitals and Clinics, Dr. Rolf conducted original research in wound healing and tissue engineering, working in collaboration with Ramon Lim M.D., Ph.D., Professor of Neurology and Philip Wertz, Ph.D., Professor of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine. Dr. Rolf’s research has been published in the Journal of Periodontology and the Journal of Dental Research, and was presented at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Periodontology and International Association of Dental Research.
In his capacity as a clinical healthcare ethicist, Dr. Rolf currently serves as course director at the University of California, department of biomedical sciences, U.C. Riverside Extension Program, delivering live and online continuing education and certificate courses in healthcare ethics to actively practicing healthcare professionals.
Dr. Rolf is also President of Chairside Consulting, an education/training and business development consulting company dedicated to the dental and healthcare industry. Dr. Rolf has worked with clients such as the Straumann Company, OraPharma, Inc. and Breathing Gym, Inc.
Known as an enthusiastic and dedicated educator with a patient-centered style, Dr. Rolf has presented seminars to dentists, dental specialists and other healthcare professionals during the past decade on various topics including periodontology, implant dentistry, oral-systemic health, business development, clinical research and healthcare ethics. He has authored and published numerous clinical and scientific papers, articles and innovative curriculum for a variety of universities, professional groups, meetings and corporations throughout the United States. Dr. Rolf is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, California Dental Association, and the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities.
