I think contacting a dental surgent and fix an appointment for routine check-up at discount rates will be the good option. I heard some dental institutes offers this facilities to gain more customers for long-term. And this would comparatively euqal to any insurance scheme, also save your time applying claims, visitings insurance offices and wait for payment.

I think a lot of people have experienced the same problem as your friend. If you don't have dental insurance, it can sometimes be difficult to get the care that you need. If I were your friend, I would begin by looking for dental schools in the area. Many times, colleges and universities will offer low cost dental care to people. The only drawback is that students will be doing the work. However, they do have experience and are supervised as they are working. I know many people that have gone this route. They were very pleased with the work and paid very little for it.

Another option would be to search on the internet for low cost or free dentists. There are many different sites that allow you to search in your state or city for a dentist that can help you. I hope this helps!

So a friend of mine has been without dental insurance for over a year now since her employer had to cut back aka cancelled her dental insurance. Whenever she sees the dentist now (usually twice a year), she has to pay for everything out-of-pocket (cleaning, exam, maybe even x-rays, drilling & filling if necessary).

I was wondering if anybody could recommend an alternative to paying out-of-pocket? And no, not going to see the dentist is not one. She wants regular check-ups, which will be healthier and cheaper in the long run.

How about private insurance or negotiating prices with the dentist???
