DENTAL1 FEATURE: Dental Implant Center

Caring For Your New Smile

Implant treatment is a proven way to replace missing teeth. You may wonder once you've undergone the implant procedure, what's next? Dental implants offer the closest possible replacement to natural teeth. So, just like natural teeth, implants require regular check-ups and good oral hygiene habits. It is important to keep your new teeth clean and plaque-free for your implant procedure to be a success. Your dentist can recommend home care kits or other cleaning devices that would work best for you. At check-ups your dentist will evaluate your home care routine and its results and give you pointers to improve if needed.

With a single implant you can floss as you would with natural teeth. If you have multiple dental implants, you may be asked by your dentist to use a special floss to clean around your gums, abutment posts and replacement teeth. Long-term studies confirm a success rate of more than 95 percent (specific to Straumann implants) after 10 years. Careful treatment planning, proper implant placement, regular follow-ups with your dentist and good oral hygiene habits are all significant factors that influence the long-term success of your implants. If you experience any pain, loosening of replacement teeth or just have oral hygiene questions, be sure to contact your dental professional.
